Selection Process

A student who has gained admission from the College to a Sri Lankan University is eligible to apply for a scholarship, he/she should be able to substantiate that the monthly income of the student’s family is at or below a level determined by the Trustees (currently Rs, 45,000 per month).

The Principal of the College provides to the Trust a list of the students who have qualified for admission to Universities based on the results of the G. C. E. (Advance Level) examination held in the previous year.

Forms of Application are sent by the Trust to all students on the list of successful University entrants. Duly completed Applications received by the Trust are evaluated on points given below :

(i)  Level of the family income,

(ii)  Number of years of study at the College,

(iii) Course of study at the University, and

(iv) Distance of the residence of the student from the College.

The Applicants are then short listed according to the number of points obtained on evaluation. The final selection is made after home visits by a panel, consisting of two or more Trustees and a member of the Executive Committee of the Dharmasoka College Past Pupils Association - Colombo Branch, to verify the information provided in the Applications.

Efforts are made to encourage scholarship recipients to be in contact with their respective donors. With this in view, the donors are invited for the award ceremony held every year at the College, attended by all  Grade 13 students  of that year.

Merit Awards

In addition to this process, the Trust awards four scholarships to four students with highest Z-Score marks in the four streams (Arts, Bio Science, Maths and Commerce). These students are selected by the College.

On the instructions of DCPPA - Col Branch, Trust has formulated a procedure to enroll awardees life membership of DCPPA - Col Branch so that they could contribute to this worthy cause.
